Family Medicine Physician - Residency Faculty Support Role

We are seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join our team and support the SSM Health/SLU School of Medicine Southwest Illinois Family Medicine Residency Program.

This is a unique opportunity to combine direct patient care with teaching and mentorship, helping shape the next generation of physicians while serving a diverse and often underserved patient population.

As an SIHF provider, you will work alongside residents in outpatient, inpatient, and obstetrical settings, contributing to a collaborative care environment that blends clinical excellence with hands-on education.

Clinical Care

• Provide direct patient care in a continuity clinic setting
• Manage a diverse patient panel, including preventive, chronic, and acute care
• Perform routine family medicine procedures and treatments

Resident Teaching & Supervision

• Supervise and mentor family medicine residents in outpatient, inpatient, and obstetrical settings
• Precept residents regularly, supporting clinical decision-making and skill development
• Provide education through didactic sessions and curriculum implementation

Collaboration & Program Involvement

• Work closely with SIHF providers, residency leadership, and partner institutions
• Participate in clinical meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Serve as a professional role model in both patient care and education

Academic & Program Participation

• Contribute to didactic sessions, curriculum development, and program activities
• Participate in scholarly work and educational initiatives
• Support residency program goals and continuous improvement efforts
