Fetal & Infant Mortality Program
The Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) program is a joint effort of local, state, and national organizations to improve the health and well-being of mothers and infants and to reduce the number of infant deaths. This is done by interviewing families who have had a loss to learn from their experiences what can be done to prevent future infant deaths.
Your Story is Important
We would like to interview you about the loss of your baby. Your experience can help identify needs of mothers, infants, and families and help the community to learn
more about medical and non-medical factors that might contribute to fetal loss and infant deaths.
Your story is vital to help better understand and prevent infant death in our community. If you decide to participate in the FIMR program, you can help guide changes and improve resources to promote positive outcomes for mothers and babies.
FIMR Participation
If you agree to participate in the FIMR program and tell your story, a staff member will contact you to arrange a convenient time to meet with you. During this time with a staff member, you and your family will be able to tell your story about the loss of your baby. You will receive a complimentary gift card for participating in the FIMR program.
Your voluntary participation in the FIMR program is kept private and confidential. Any information you provide during the interview will be used only for the purpose of the FIMR program.
Families who participate in the FIMR interview often find the experience comforting allowing them to share their experience in a safe environment. Some parents
feel the sharing of their story honors their baby’s memory by possibly preventing future losses.
The loss of a pregnancy or infant is never an easy thing to go through. Nothing can prepare a family for the pain and grief of losing a baby. Staff of the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program offer our deepest condolences and sympathy during this difficult time.
