SIHF Healthcare In Coles County is Accepting Donations for Pediatric Patients in Recognition of National Health Center Week

August 14, 2017

SIHF Healthcare is celebrating National Health Center Week 2017 (NHCW), August 13-19, with public health screenings across southern Illinois and charity donation drives at its more than 30 health centers.

What began as a pilot project during President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty in 1965, today’s community health centers serve more than 23 million people nationwide, many of whom are uninsured or underinsured. As the second largest Federally Qualified Health Center network in Illinois, SIHF Healthcare operates more than 30 health centers in the region, including two in Coles County, as well as a number of support services.

“My team and I at SIHF Healthcare strive to offer families throughout Coles County accessible, affordable healthcare,” said Kim Esker, health center manager of SIHF Healthcare in both Mattoon and Charleston, Ill. “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to serve such wonderful families throughout the community, and are excited to celebrate NHCW with our patients that we consider both family and friends.”

In recognition of NHCW, SIHF Healthcare in Charleston and Mattoon, Ill., are accepting coloring books and crayon donations for their pediatric patients. The staff of both locations is also hosting a coloring contest, and the two winners will each receive a backpack filled with school supplies. If the child does not need the supplies, the backpack will then be donated to the child’s school in his or her name. For more information, you can contact the Mattoon location at (217) 234-3091, or the Charleston location at (217) 345-7702.

SIHF Healthcare is located in Mattoon at 700 Broadway Avenue E. #39. SIHF Healthcare is located in Charleston at 626 W. Lincoln Avenue.
