CAHOKIA HEIGHTS HOUSING SURVEY UNDERWAY
SIHF Healthcare is partnering with the St. Clair County Housing Authority, the Illinois Housing Development Authority, and local leaders to seek input on new housing and health needs. SIHF Healthcare and its affiliate Touchette Regional Hospital have worked together to provide over 300 units of new housing across Illinois. This includes the local developments of Touchette Elderly Apartments in Cahokia Heights, Touchette Elderly Apartments II in East St. Louis and the Cottages at Cathedral Square in Belleville.
“We are now seeking to partner in the development of affordable housing in Cahokia Heights,” noted Kristine Ponticelli, Director of Community Development. “As part of this process, we are required to survey about housing in the community as well as other community and life resources.”
If you live in the greater Cahokia Heights (Cahokia/Centreville/Alorton) area, please take a few minutes to complete the Community Needs Assessment online at www.sihf.org or https://touchette.org/programs/housing. The results go directly to the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA). To get a paper copy of the survey mailed to you, call 618-332-5286.
The survey is an important step to understand the housing needs and related conditions like childcare, recreation, health services and more. Your input will help provide the services needed by the residents of the community.
“Once the results are tabulated by IHDA, we will be able to use this data to assist in future applications for the financing programs offered by IHDA to move forward housing developments in the community,” Ponticelli added.
